Many of us struggle with feelings of inadequacy, especially when we think we are not smart enough. The good news is that God does not measure our worth by our intelligence. He calls us to trust in Him, rely on His wisdom, and remember that His power is made perfect in our weakness. Below are biblical themes that remind us of God’s perspective on our abilities.

God Chooses the Weak to Show His Power
Throughout the Bible, God often chooses people who seem unqualified in the world’s eyes. This shows that His power is at work through those who rely on Him. If you feel like you’re not smart enough, remember that God delights in using the weak to accomplish great things.
1 Corinthians 1:27
“Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful.”
Exodus 4:10-12
“But Moses pleaded with the Lord, “O Lord, I’m not very good with words. I never have been, and I’m not now, even though you have spoken to me. I get tongue-tied, and my words get tangled.” Then the Lord asked Moses, “Who makes a person’s mouth? Who decides whether people speak or do not speak, hear or do not hear, see or do not see? Is it not I, the Lord? Now go! I will be with you as you speak, and I will instruct you in what to say.””
Judges 6:15-16
““But Lord,” Gideon replied, “how can I rescue Israel? My clan is the weakest in the whole tribe of Manasseh, and I am the least in my entire family!” The Lord said to him, “I will be with you. And you will destroy the Midianites as if you were fighting against one man.””
2 Corinthians 12:9
“Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.”
Jeremiah 1:6-7
““O Sovereign Lord,” I said, “I can’t speak for you! I’m too young!” The Lord replied, “Don’t say, ‘I’m too young,’ for you must go wherever I send you and say whatever I tell you.””
True Wisdom Comes from God
When we rely on our own understanding, we may feel inadequate. But God’s wisdom surpasses human intelligence. When we seek Him, He gives us the wisdom we need to navigate life.

God uses those who feel weak or unqualified so that His glory is revealed through them. No matter how you feel about your intelligence, God has a purpose for your life, and He will equip you with everything you need to fulfill it.
