Human trafficking is a grave injustice that strips people of their dignity and freedom. The Bible speaks clearly about the value of every human life, the call to defend the oppressed, and God’s heart for justice. As followers of Christ, we are called to stand against this evil and be a voice for those who are suffering. Here are key themes in Scripture that address the issue of human trafficking and our responsibility as believers.

God’s Heart for Justice
God is a just and righteous judge who hates oppression and calls His people to act justly. The Bible is filled with passages that emphasize His concern for the vulnerable and His command to stand against injustice. When we fight against human trafficking, we align our hearts with God’s will and demonstrate His love to the world.
Psalm 82:3-4
“Give justice to the poor and the orphan; uphold the rights of the oppressed and the destitute. Rescue the poor and helpless; deliver them from the grasp of evil people.”

Every person is created in the image of God and is of immense worth. Human trafficking violates this truth by treating people as commodities. The Bible teaches that God values each life and calls us to do the same.

Psalms 139:13-14
“You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.”
Luke 12:6-7
“What is the price of five sparrows—two copper coins? Yet God does not forget a single one of them. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.”

“There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.”

“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket.
